Helping a Young Man Overcome the Odds and Graduate College

Succatti Shaw describes her son Marquez as “a great kid I can count on to work hard and seek out what it is he wants to accomplish.” For Marquez, the pursuit of higher education has always been a priority. As the oldest of three children to a single mom, Marquez has had limited resources to accomplish his goal of graduating college. However, he has still managed to use his talents in sports and academics to offset the cost of his education.

For many young people in the United States, getting a college education is simply showing up and passing a class. Marquez has relied on low-income fee waivers, partial scholarships, and his own two feet. When there was not enough money to help him afford transportation, Marquez walked an hour and forty-five minutes to attend community college.

At a time when many people take education for granted, we admire this young man’s efforts to realize his dream of graduating college. We are raising funds to support Marquez so that he can return to Sterling College and finish his degree!

Our agency will donate $20 to Marquez Shaw on your behalf for every recommendation you send our way, and we'll add you to our monthly drawing for a $50 Gift Card.

Getting involved has never been so simple, or Free!
